Even though they talk about it being Houston the movie was shot over a short time in Dallas in the fall. 1967?
Mars Needs Women (1967) (TV)
Some interesting scenes in the movie include shooting at:
Collins Radio in Richardson (showing large microwave dish and other dishes aoutside the building )
Love Field: Parking Lot, Main Concourse, Braniff Check in/Ticket Counter, Moving Sidewalk
Fair Park: Cotton Bowl (SMU game vs?), Science Place-The Human Body exhibit and the Planetarium, area around the Lagoon.
SMU Campus area: Outside the Meadows Art Museum and Sorority Row
White Rock Lake: The Pump Station-which was empty at the time now houses offices for the water department.
Central Expressway showing the Dallas Night Skyline-Southland Life Building
Statler Hilton: Check in area, Bar, a guests room (2 rooms w/bath),hallways, and a conference room. This building has been empty for over 20 years now and there has been heavy debate on what should be done to it-City wants to condemn it even though it is structurally sound.
Athens Strip: Men's Entertainment Club on lower greenville ave, was open until the early 1970's and was known for being one of the major clubs of that type in the city even though it was probably less than 5,000 sq ft.
There also was one well known stripper used in the movie BUBBLES CASH.
Bubbles Cash
If you grew up in Dallas in the 1960's you heard about her all the time because she would go to the Dallas Cowboys games all dolled up and it would even be mentioned that she was in the stands and sometimes the camera would pan over to her in a crowd shot.
LCD 20 | Jack Ruby - Dallas' Original J.R. She just knew how to market herself, I don't know if she is alive still now or not but Candy Barr
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/04/arts/04barr.html?_r=1 which is mentioned in the link passed away but they were both some of the "early stars" in the Dallas Men's Entertainment Industry.
BTW the Movie is really campy especially when they start talking about space travel.
