Perseid Meteor Shower - 08-05-2010, 06:31 AM

The 2010 Perseid Meteor Shower should peak on the night of Thursday August 12 and the morning of Friday the 13th, but you may be able to see some meteors any time from July 23 - August 22. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Perseus. The thin, crescent moon will set about 9pm Thursday, setting the stage for a potentially spectacular show. For best viewing, look to the northeast after after 11:00 pm.

There are some tips for photographing meteor showers SPACE.com -- Meteor Shower Photography and here How to Photograph a Meteor Shower.

Thanks for the information. I would love to be able to capture some good pics of this. Hopefully I can remember to find a place and setup.

Good info. I was out for a few minutes last night, sans camera, seeing if the clouds were still in the way, but soon perceived it was the Milky Way. Did not stay long, as the zzzzzapping mosquitoes found me!

I had one good year with Perseid about ten years ago.
Since, several years have been dissapointing.

Maybe this year will be good.

Drinking underneath the stars,
Watching, counting meteors.
Robert says, "You know those fell a hundred years ago.
The light is just now reaching Earth."
I said, "Man, for what its worth,
I think you are wrong and you really don't know."

Sorry.. old song.. always reminded of it when the Perseids come out. LOL
