This is a discussion on When did the text advertising links start? within the Open Talk forums, part of the General Information category; I've noticed links on words like "bike", "fence", and "picture". It's a shame that TPF must resort to such distracting ...

When did the text advertising links start? - 08-05-2010, 09:20 AM


I've noticed links on words like "bike", "fence", and "picture".

It's a shame that TPF must resort to such distracting and misleading methods of raising revenue.

Often the links lead to less-than-reputable companies or are totally irrelevent.

Worse still, they can be inappropriate and offensive, such as "accident" leading to an attorney or "killed" to a life insurance company.

you can either offer to help offset some of the server and maintenance and software costs that come with running or a forum...or choose not to frequent the forum if they bother you that much.
