I decided to try Safari on Windows today, and it is IMHO less functional than Firefox. I have IE 8, Firefox, and Safari installed right now. I am posting this from Safari to test it. Also there is no simple way to bookmark a page, you have to do extra things to get a bookmark set. Plus there is a definate political slant to the left on the installed bookmarks, where I prefer a neutral or apolitical browser for the most part. I am going to try and push Safari hard to see how it stacks up to Firefox which is my browser of choice. Also to check cookie handling, and security.
So what browsers do you all use?

I love how fast Opera loads pages, but I'm worried that it is less secure tha IE8, so I've gone back to IE8. I have Safari on a Mac and I'm not that crazy about it.

Love the speed of Firefox. Though we are locked to only using IE8 at work.

I like the plugins on firefox, but it is slow compared to safari on my Macbook Pro. Plus now safari has plugins so soon it will hopefully catch up to firefox in that aspect also
As for adding a bookmark I have a + symbol right next to my address bar and all I do is click it to make an instant bookmark. You do have to put it there it doesn't come standard.

Chrome 99.99% of the time, Firefox for the one (school) site I have to use that doesn't work in Chrome.
(note: Chrome in OSX was nowhere near as nice as Chrome on Win7 - my money is on webkit conflicts w/ Safari which may be the only browser I hate more than Internet Exploder).

Firefox is a bloated pig of a browser, but last time I checked it's still the only color-managed option for Windows so that's what I use.

Firefox is what I use most of the time.
Safari for only a couple of things, but I have noticed how much faster it is.
IE only for sites that do not work properly on Firefox (which is only a couple that I've seen).

I mainly use firefox but I use them all often to check continuity for work. Fire fox just seems to have it all and I really enjoy the sync add on.
For me it goes...
Firefox
Chrome
Safari
IE if I have to. | | | |

I used IE even though it was clunky, until Netscape came along. In a few years, Netscape had half of the browser market because it just worked. Firefox is a followon to Netscape using the same Mozilla code. It just works. The only time it doesn't connect is when my ISP 'has issues'. One really nice thing is that it is user tweakable so it opens and runs faster along with the ability to change settings such as popups and color management at will. I've posted the recipe for tweaking before, but I can do it again if anyone wants it. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
