Anywhere you look with a camera while you are there is picture worthy.

Yellowstone and the Tetons are both beautiful locations and very target rich for photography. You can always pick up the Photographer's Guide to Yellowstone and the Tetons Amazon.com: Photographer's Guide to Yellowstone and the Tetons (9780811735551): Joseph K. Lange: Books if you want to do a little research and preplanning. I would also go off the beaten path to get different images but the classic ones are great. It doesn't matter how many photographers before you have taken a shot if you haven't done it before. Most of all, enjoy!

I second Debbi's suggestion of the Lange book, it's an excellent resource for photographers, well worth the price.

Need more input.
How long is your stay?
Where are you staying in the area?
Will you have a car?
Shoot early. Shoot late. Real early. Before the Griswolds wake up. Late as in until or even after sunset.
Get away from pavement. Griswolds love pavement. They rarely leave pavement. If you leave the pavement you will have better chances to get good photos without Griswolds in the way.
Enjoy.
ps: Despite what GOOGLE says, Jackson's Hole was the name given to the area by mountain men. Yellowstone is one word.

hmmm...i just got back from there. took maybe 4 pictures, half with the p&s. probably a sin in the photographic world. i was too upset at the rangers to do anything else. stayed at my super secret place, which is super cheap. and super deluxe.
drive around. if you can't find anything to take a picture of, you're blind. even in my rage, i couldn't resist a couple of pictures.

Jackson Hole's "must see" for a photographer:
1) Schwabacher Landing....park in the gravel parking lot and walk north about a 1/3 a mile to the beaver pond for reflections of the Tetons in the still water.
2) Mormon Row.....John Moulton (north) and Thomas Moulton (south) barns with the Tetons as a background. Just east of the main hwy (Hwy 89) off Antelope Flats Road.
3) Oxbow Bend on the road to Yellowstone .... early morning when the water is still and you can get a glass reflection of Mount Moran in the water.
4) Signal Mountain summit....again, early morning to get a panoramic view of Jackson Lake and the Tetons
5) Back patio, Jackson Lake Lodge. World class panorama of the Tetons and Jackson Lake.
Enjoy...it is a photographer's dream location if the weather cooperates. And get up EARLY - it is an early morning park. We normally left our hotel in downtown Jackson every morning before 5:00 a.m.

Geeeze, Jeff, you just sent Scott to all the places that EVERYBODY goes to. For good reason too.
4 days isn't enough. 4 years isn't enough. Do the best you can. My favorite Yellowstone places: Norris Geyser Basin and the hike up to the Old Faithful Overlook. The overlook is usually deserted.
If you are in the town of Jackson after dark, visit the Million Dollar Bar. Bring me a t-shirt. Grinning.

John | a combination of things--weather, misfortune for others and red tape.
This happened the day before we were trying to get a permit. They were a little testy at jenny lake...something about 36 hours of rescuing operations.
