Exclamation If you're going to be in business... - 08-18-2010, 08:36 AM

... please make sure that:

-your phone is answered in the first 2 to 3 rings.
-your phone calls are returned on time.
-you acknowledge emails even if you don't have time for a full response.
-when you DO decide to return those emails, they are written PROFESSIONALLY, without the use of 'text slang.' Words like "LOL" and "UR" don't exist, and only make you look like a 5th grade girl... or is that 'gurl'?
-you set realistic deadlines.
-you MEET those realistic deadlines!
-you DO what you SAY you will DO without varying from the original commitment to your customer.

And for pete's sake.... if your going to be a 'business' owner... act like one!

ETA: Not directed at anyone in particular, just a vent!

Hey Chris.

Should we get the popcorn ready? What happened to start all of this up. I try to be as professional as I can at all times. Unfortunately, when I deal with others I don't get the same treatment. In fact yesterday the AC repair guy was 3 hours late. He viewed the duct problems I am having and then said he would be back this morning to replace all my ducts and he is already an hour late today...makes me sick to my stomach....and I may have to endure the afternoon South Texas heat here in SA just cause he is lazy...

One way that I can improve is to give a response before I can give a full response...

Thanks for the tips though.

It doesn't have anything to do with pricing. $15 for a 5x7 may not work for you, but it may work for someone else.

I'm just tired of taking my business to places that don't act like they are glad to have it. I want ON TIME responses!! If you give me a deadline then MEET IT!! When I send you an email, don't take 7 days to respond and then give me a generic response like 'its been crazy, but we're working on it.' Perhaps my little measly order doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but somewhere, someone would be happy to have it.

Know when you use "your" and and "you're". The first one is possessive and the last one is a contraction for "you are".

No offense was meant so don't take any.

And, 'there', their', and 'they're' are not interchangeable. Also, my pet peeve...advise/advice. 'Advise' is a verb. 'Advice' is a noun. 'Thank you for your advise,' ' I need some advise,' are incorrect use.

Just sayin'...

Kustomer Svcs has gawn down the pooper in the last couple decades which is very sad since so many businesses now are service based!

But also people shouldn't expect a reply in 10 nanoseconds after they posted the email to you or a post of facebook or whatever communcation method is used. (I seldom hit my facebook account-not used for business right now anyway-and an old friend was all in a tissy that I didn't reply to his posts-I told him that I have other things to do than live on FB!)

Funny ... ever noticed that when you are trying to mess up your words and jumble them up that you actually try to correct it right there and then.

I agree with you Chris. I have met some people at businesses that just speak without some slang in every other sentence. Makes it real hard to take that person seriously.
