Need Cheap Haircut - 08-23-2010, 03:29 PM

All the hair salons around here want $14 to cut my hair. If I don't find something for $10 or less, I'm just going to shave my head. I'll do it! I don't want to, but I'll do it.

Before I inflict this eyesore on everyone, does anyone know of an inexpensive barber in the Plano/Garland/Richardson area?

$14 isn't really outrageous. That seems to be about the going rate nowadays. It's been many years since I paid under $12 for a cut.

If you don't mind a drive to Celina. I use a barber shop on the town square. The barber's name is David Renteria. A hair cut is $6.00 or there about. I wear a flat top hair cut and he does a fantastic job. I highly recommend him. If you want I can send you the phone number to the shop.

I used to go to places like greatclips... but since going to places like Floyds and Birds, I found you definitely get what you pay for.

I just shave my head. My wife hates it...but the cool breeze over my bald scalp is amazing.

+1 That's what I do!
I gave myself a buzz cut this past Friday. I do it in the driveway, and then blow the trimmings off with a leaf blower! I've been doing it every two weeks for the last 5 years! Saved alot of money in that time.

$13 Remington clipper set

As for me, I'm considering giving up the fight against my receding hairline and shaving it all.

This thread almost seems like a joke! I pay about $40 for a haircut and get $40 worth of skill and service. A $10 will look like a $10 haircut. Next thing, you'll be complaining that good photographers are charging too much and that you want to find a $10 portrait session... My grandma's got bad eyesight, shaky hands, a point and shoot AND an old pair of rusty scissors. She'll probably do both jobs for a ten a piece, if you ask her nicely!!!

Schick Xtreme3

Started shaving my head when my mom had her first chemo treatment, 7+ years ago. Can't go wrong with a Schick.

FWIW, my son has never been to a barber. Every one of his hair cuts has been by me. Just last week he begged me to give him a hair cut before he went back to school (college). Yes, he'll be 20 in 2 weeks. I must be doing something right. : ) But don't get any ideas Richard, you can't afford me either.

Hmmmm, maybe that's explains the hat.
