Wow, the last time I laid a bead was in 1996. I took a class in Welding and Machine Shop in college.

What are you trying to do with it and could you get it to Houston?

I'm sure I could make it to houston when I'm ready to do this. Here's the deal:

The BMW Z3 roadster has a sunken area where the jack and other emergency parts went in the trunk. It is right in the middle. I was thinking about doing a custom exhaust that exits out under the license plate in the middle of the rear bumper, like some older bmw's have. If I raise this trunk floor back up some, I could have more room to fit the exhaust in that area. Nothing I have to do today, but it's on the list of things to do...

edit: Oh, and while I'm at it, I'd probably want to increase the number of spot welds on the panels back there. The Z3 is known for the factory welds to come loose over time, so this could help against that problem.

The welding part wouldn't be that bad. The cutting and fitting could be a little trickier than I would want to tackle at the house. The there's the issue of forming a new pan to put in place of the old one, which I don't have the equipment available to do.
