Yeah. I saw that yesterday on CNet. I thought I read somewhere that Apple was allowing Jailbreaking now! (???)

So, if Apple doesn't like how you're using THEIR iPhone (because apparently purchasing the device doesn't make it YOURS) they can shut it down? Using it for anti-theft would be ok (if someone wants to use it), but how can Apple shut down a device that a consumer bought? It doesn't really sound legal to me...

Well, how about just shutting down the phone if they know it's stolen?

I do not think that is a priority because unless it is jail broken At&t can still make money off of it. I could be wrong.

After I buy an album, who are they to tell me what I can do with it?? After I buy Photoshop, who are they to tell me what I can and can't do with it??

I think you're confusing hardware with software. Are you taking Apple's side here?

What's the difference? Once you buy either hardware or software it becomes yours. What about photographs?

^ This

Mazda doesn't tell me what I can do in my car. Samsung doesn't tell me what I can watch. If I want a better UI, who the **** is Apple to say I can't do so? I wish I could pitch this thing right now. If I didn't have so much invested in iTunes, I'd dump it, too.

That doesn't answer the question. What is the difference between hardware and software for one to be able to tell you what you can do and one can't?
