Never understood why Apple doesn't just SELL AN APP that will let you do whatever you'd like....

^Because they're greedy bastards who are in cahoots with AT&T (who also happen to be greedy bastards, go figure) and want to charge you for every little thing like tethering and data use. This is the biggest feature I use on the JB iPhone, and it's the main reason I JB'd the phone, so I could use 3G on the laptop when I'm not in a free WiFi zone.

edit: And if you sell a one-time fee app that allows you to "free" your phone, they'll lose out on rationing and charging for data (for those who have unlimited data plans).

edit... nevermind, obviously people find theft of services to be a gray area... I'm not arguing it anymore

Honestly, I didn't think about that Brad. I take it for granted that the network is there for use. I don't know how it works, and I didn't think about how use would affect the overall performance of the entire network. I figured hey, they have enough tech and equipment to handle the 3G use so it's always going to be available.
But then again, remember what happened during some of the recent disasters, and everyone was on their phones at the same time trying to contact people and nobody could get a connection because it was over used.

After reading parts of the other thread about Apple applying for a killswitch, it made some sense and I can see where they're coming from.

And after reading my above post in this light, I sound like a complete jack-hole

However, (there's always a 'however', right?') there are other features on a JB'd phone besides tethering that should be available from the manufacturer. Stunting expandability and usage of a device that has no ill effects is just hateful.

That's why I love the open source Google Android OS.
