Specs are okay....looks better than what I got....and I love mine! I think mine has a 120 refresh rate....but Sams Club for $599....couldn't beat it...

What brand is it? Same specs from two different manufacturers can look the same on paper, but very different in reality. How they handle 24p, viewing angle, black levels(not just the on paper contrast ratios) etc, are things to look at also.

EDIT: I see the brand is RCA. I would look at it in person before getting it.

Sounds like a good deal, but I would see it before purchasing as well. I bought an off brand (Olevia) a couple years ago and saved some money, but that's because it looked "almost" as good at the similarly spec'd phillips (that was quite a bit more) right next to it. Without a slightly better TV right next to it I've been happy. Definitely try before you buy.

Brand really does matter. I've never seen a sanyo or samsung that I've liked. The picture quality still seemed sub-par, even with good specs on paper. RCA TV's used to be good, but I haven't followed them lately, so my info may be out of date. I've been really happy with my Panasonic 42" and 50" so far. Good specs on paper and a good picture in real life.

How does the picture look? If the picture doesn't look good the specs don't matter. Just an old goat's opinion.

I've not been overly impressed with any of the new digital "HDTV's" I've seen. Analogue had a much better picture than digital, IMHO

Brand names can be meaniless, I bought a new RCA lcd/dvd combo tv from walmart this last year for an elderly relative. One of the reason's I bought was the brand name. Big mistake, a few days after the end of the warranty the screen went out, of course walmart refered me to RCA. They don't have any local service I had to pay to have it packed (who saves the orginal box ), shipped, and pay a service fee ($100) so they would replace it. It took over a 6 weeks to get the replacement. I will never ever buy rca again

For what it is worth -- I love the Samsung that I have. Crisp, clear, and beautiful picture with enough controls to get it right (RGB controls as well as really nice contrast and brightness adjustments.)

I bought mine about two years ago, and it has worn in very well.

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!
