Trash hauling referral in Dallas?????? - 09-15-2010, 01:00 PM

The seller left a garage full of junk behind when she moved out of the garden home that my 80-something parents bought. I am beyond steamed that she just expected my elderly parents (or even me) to clean it up. Anyway know someone who would come haul it off for a reasonable sum? It's in N. Dallas (LBJ/Midway area).

thanks!

Try 1-800-GOT-JUNK. I don't know the cost, but know a professional organizer that uses them.

Lisa,

I "might" know someone, but he won't haul trash for the sake of hauling trash. He collects junk, fixes it and sells it, and the unfixable goes to the dump.

So, is this just trash, or "stuff" that someone might fix?

Steve, I don't know if it is fixable stuff. Some probably is, but I didn't really look at it closely. I may have shamed the sellers into coming back on Saturday and picking it all up. I'm not going to give them their refrigerator they left if they don't. If for some reason they don't show up, I will let you know, because if there is fixable junk in there, he would be more than welcome to it. And, I may have a fridge to offer someone as well.

ive used them several times... and theyre very good. not cheap but good and they do all of the moving themselves.

very hassle free... just gotta pay them and thats all. well worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the suggestions all! If all goes well, they will come back Saturday and clean out their stuff themselves. If not, I'm emailing Steve and if his friend isn't interested, then it's on to GOT JUNK. I just don't want to get stuck paying for their trash removal if I don't have to. But, in the meantime, I've got their fridge and washer/dryer.....so they have a little incentive to come make it right!

I guess if you have to pay 1-800 got junk, if you know a lawyer you might send a demand letter We had something similar happen with some commerical property once.

Between me and my husband, I think we could have the demand letter part covered , but there's still the little matter of getting blood out of a turnip, as they say.

I think we stand a better chance of holding the fridge, washer/dryer and an antique bird bath with much sentiment attached to it as "collateral", until they come clean up.
