Sorting photos in Windows 7

This is a discussion on Sorting photos in Windows 7 within the Open Talk forums, part of the General Information category; Is it just me, or does Windows 7 not allow any kind of manual file sorting?...

Is it just me, or does Windows 7 not allow any kind of manual file sorting?

You can sort by any of the attributes available, but if mean can you drag and drop them in the order you want, then no.

I use ACDee for my processed photos...you can both move folders as well as put them in order you would like within the flile. You can also view .dng files. You can do simple edits using the program but is IS NOT in the same class as lightroom or photoshop-it's also not as expensive.

what do you want to sort by? Right click on the sort bar in explorer and you have many different attributes to select.

I think he means arrange them in any order he wants

for example

file name 1 ,2 , 3 he might want to be file name 1, 3, 2

It seems that option was removed from Windows 7 ... I can't say that I personally miss it, But I can see how if someone was used to doing things that way, this would be a missed feature

Yes, I want to just manually drag a photo in between two photos for example. It doesn't make sense, why would they remove this?

Not sure, its not something that I ever use. Maybe there are many people that never used it, so it's gone?
