Armed gunmen on UT campus - 09-28-2010, 09:28 AM

Second armed UT suspect still at large | KXAN.com

AUSTIN (KXAN) - There are two suspects in Tuesday morning's incident at the University of Texas.

The first gunman entered the Perry Castaneda Library at the UT campus with an automatic weapon, UT Public Information Officer Rhonda Weldon said he shot himself, and he is dead.

There is a second suspect authorities are looking for. They are not sure of the person's identity, and they don't know if the person is a student. They are trying to get more information.

Some of my coworker's kids are there, one in the dorm/sorority next to the library close enough to hear 3 shots. If there is a second hope they catch him/her. Hope all the students/staff and innocents come out safe!

Looks like everyone is ok except the shooter.

It's strange because yesterday there were patrol cars and helicopters circling the ACC Northridge campus, but nobody knew why

Not to make light of the subject, but the Junior Redundancy Officer wants to know re:"Armed Gunman".

Is there ever any reason to worry about an "unarmed gunman"?

I was thinking the same thing...

On a more serious note, I hope everything turns out okay.

LOL! It's the gunmen with both arms that are most dangerous...

Wonder if UT allows students with a conceal/carry license to carry?

Listening to AM radio from Aggieland & DFW on the drive to Houston this morning........

An "eyewitness" called one of the stations and said that he SAW a person with an AK-47.
SWAT teams were searching a building for the second suspect.
One of the radio folks said that he was on campus back in the 60s when the sniper event took place.

Obviously, we need to close all libraries as they can be hazardous to one's health.

YMMV.

UPDATE: All clear shortly after noon today. Only one suspect. He is not a threat any longer.
