Anyone else besides me ever had the problem of LR crashing when PS is open? Used to happen with LR2 and CS3. The problem persisted with LR3 and CS3. Now I've upgraded to CS5, and LR3 still crashes. I know the probable solution is to remove and reinstall LR3, but I'm getting a new system this week (thanks to Rich [Rson]) so I'm not even going to bother. Just curious.
I haven't had your specific issue (LR1 and PS3), but I did have issues if more than 3 adobe programs were open Illustrator, PS, LR and then try to open up InDesign the 4th program would just close right away, it's strange. Made it hard to work on a multipage document (using InDesign) that uses photos (LR and PS) and illustrations (Illy). I'm pretty sure my LR catalog was too big and eating up all sorts of memory even when not actively being used. Since starting a new catalog (I'll do this every year now, though seems to sort of defeat the purpose of tagging photos, but I guess I can use Bridge if I need to search EVERYTHING) everything has run much more smoothly.
Not sure if this info is helpful at all, but there you are.
I did have problems with LR2 and CS3 though.
It was primarily due to clicking on an image and trying to alt-tab or any other action while the cursor was still waiting on the image to fully render, or if you were trying to export to or open in ... and tried to do anything else on the computer while that action was in process.
Without looking at the logs on the machine, I couldn't say what the issue is, but I'd guess it's an issue with resources on the OS level, and not specifically with the applications, since it's persisted through versions. I've multiple version of CS & LR without having any issues.
Well, I know when it started. It was when I installed the beta version of LR3. I was still running LR2 at the time. Even after removing the beta, the problem remained. Forgot to mention that little detail. Doesn't really matter though since I'll be taking ownership of my new machine sometime this week.
