Cake Smashing... - 10-03-2010, 11:42 AM

You know... bride and groom either deliver the cake in a civil manner, or go at it like pigs in slop. What do you think? Is it just fun, or just plain tacky?

I think it is overdone, but whatever makes them happy.

I'm not sure the significance of the cake cutting, but it's fun to see the personalities of the couple come out in this event. It's like what kind of couple are they? Are they going to be polite or smash it? Makes for great pictures.

Just depends on the couple's personality I suppose, I have seen a few uncomfortable examples though.

First -- I am not a big wedding fan at all...

with that said -- I think its kinda cute when the bride smears a bit of icing on the nose of the groom in a playful manner, but anything too much beyond that seems to be a bit tacky.

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

I'll agree that it can be done in a fun way, but too often it is just tacky and mean with little regard for the spouse being smeared. The person is just looking for a laugh and often takes it too far. You can almost judge the lifespan and quality of the marriage on the events surrounding the cake cutting... The person's true colors come out when they decide how to treat their spouse during the cake feeding!

Isnt the idea of the feeding each other to be something like "I will support you"? I know that may be an outdated concept to some people, but I think that is why it is IN the ceremonies and people just dont know about it or care about the symbolism of it.
