His videos on KelbyTraining.com. I watched the one in the seedy hotel room, and the skateboard one so far. Just to watch him evaluate the lighting in his photos is amazing.

Next time in texas, you should check out his seminar. Similar to his videos as to how he goes about each situation and thinks through a situation

That shoot I just went on in NH was with Moose Peterson and Joe McNally. McNally was great in person, not only to see him work but to experience his personality. Great guy, great teacher.

I'll post the pic I took of him using the 200/2 once I get i uploaded.

Equipment aside, Joe has had over 30 years to learn via experimenting, failing, and succeeding. He is also a great teacher, and I enjoy learning from him as well.

Great video. The top photographers don't take pictures, they make pictures.

UH-MAZE-ING!!! Great video! I think I'm gonna buy his book...

Two points that got me were:

"Lie to your editors..." - when he was saying that he had never shot a baseball game, but told someone that he did it in Syracuse all the time. It goes totally against the 'professional' code that we always hear about - the one that says to refer the client to someone more capable. But if you know your techinical limits, and are comfortable capturing what the client is asked for, why pass up the opportunity?

And...

"Migration period..." - when he was talking about 'migrating' the techinical stuff from the front of your brain to the back of your brain and allowing the creativity to come forward. This really hit home with me, especially now because this is the period that I think I am really in. Lately it seems that I cannot get the creative juices flowing because I am so intent on making sure my lighting is correct. This usually inhibits the creative stuff, and instead of capturing the moment, or the story, I miss the shot.

I really liked both of his books. He has a new one coming 2011. I wrote down the title in my notes somewhere.

I believe he mentioned that book at his last seminar here in Houston, and I want to say he said the title was "Sketching with light", or something along those lines.

That's the one. He told us he wanted to subtitle it "The Adventures of Numbnuts"
