Visited for a couple of hours Saturday (10/02/10) and the Dallas Arboretum is in fine condition with 40,000+ pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, pumpkin houses with children's story themes, and about a kazillion blooming flowers. Great time to go if you're looking for to get pics of the munchkins or your sweetie or for that matter, anything else that would benefit from having flowery or pumpkiny backgrounds. Don't forget your macro lens if you're a bug shooter because the honey bees, butterflies, and other small flying critters are numerous and active...
LOTS of other peeps have the same idea so visit at off hours or during the week if at all possible... Regular hours are 9 to 5 to include weekends as I recall.
Tripods are allowed as long as you don't block walkways or become an insensitive toad about placement. In fact, they'll probably not blink an eye if you were to bring in a monopod instead although I'm sure they'd be happiest if everyone shot hand held. |
