I certainly think so. I saw this now famous video on Fox 4 DFW last night. I was appalled. I was even more appalled by the people that posted on the link that she got what she deserved. Really? A headslam into a concrete wall while handcuffed. Dirty cop Perez couldn't contain an upset 120 pound female without using violent force?
I'm all for obeying a cop's orders but she hardly deserved this treatment. I can also "kinda" understand how some cops can lose their cool when a person flees when ordered to stop/pull-over. But goodness, this is a bit much in this case. http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/news/100...xcessive-force

doesn't seem like there is too much to be upset about here. The trooper is no longer on the force, and criminal charges are pending.
Sounds like the system (at least at the State Trooper level) is working very well.

Pathetic.
Move along everybody....there's nothing going on here. Move on away.

Yes, over the top. She may have been coming across as a bit difficult, but troopers are/should be trained to handle this appropriately. This was handled inappropriately and this guy should/will face the consequences. Wonder how many others have been mistreated by this DB.

Perhaps he thought he was handling a convict!
Perez, who worked in the state prison system for 16 years before moving to the DPS a little more than three years ago, opted to retire before he was formally fired. Nevertheless, McCraw has asked the Texas Rangers to investigate the incident "based on readily observable evidence from the Trooper's in-car video," according to the DPS's statement. Perez had been patrolling the Dallas North Tollway since July of this year. Says Texas DPS: Earlier This Month, a State Trooper Used Excessive Force on the Tollway - Dallas News - Unfair Park

He should not be allowed to draw his pension, he should have been fired, he tossed her like a twig in the wind, no need for that at all..... and all after SHE called 911 for help....these are the stories that our kids read and cause them to have zero respect for the police....and it seems like more and more stories like this pop up everyday....I guess that could be because we have more media coverage though...just my .02

Am I the only one who sides with the Trooper here. Should she have had her face slammed into a concrete wall? No, absolutely not. But I think it's fairly obvious that wasn't his intention. She stumbled while he was trying to spin her around and bend her over what appears to be ledge and that's why her face ended up in the concrete. She was resisting after repeated warnings to stop. If she hadn't been resisting and possibly drunk, this wouldn't have happened.

This kind of thing probably happens less now than it did 20 years ago, but we just hear about more.

I'm comfortable with leaving this one in the hands of the justice system.
And no, I don't think you're the only one who sides with the trooper. I'm just not one of them.

Dude, attack the cops all you want. That is apparently what your goal is here. Dirty, stinking cops who want to do nothing more than hurt people. That is exactly what was in the video right??
The Police Officer repeatedly told the lady to cooperate with him so that she wouldn't risk getting hurt. She refused time and time again to listen to his warning. You can see her a number of times trying to pull away from him and it wasn't until she was pulling away towards an area she could, as well as the officer could be met by a passing vehicle that he yanked her into the wall.
Should he have done this with the force he did? No, he shouldn't have. But at what point to we allow the officer the option to protect himself and the one in custody? Should he have let go of her allowing her to possibly fall into traffic, since it appears she is intoxicated?
Obviously you would recommend he set down 3 body pillows and then gently lower her onto them and then cover her with a comforter until her buzz wears off and she is no longer drunk.
Cops are evil...
