I was thinking of maybe swinging by it on a road trip that I am getting ready to take that may take me into Arkansas.

Stop off at Tucker's Tower on Lake Murray if you are up by Turner Falls.

The park in Sulphur is also nice.

East of there, Tishimingo - Blue River is scenic.

Turner Falls is always a beautiful stop... but how are you planning to go to Arkansas from there? Probably be better time spent to head to Beavers Bend & Talimena Drive... be alot closer to Arkansas?

I would second the Beavers Bend. Also, hit Caddo Lake! Doesn't get more beautiful than that!

I have. The leader of my hiking group says that you have only about a week or two to get there when the leaves start to change color. You need to call the park every day to get a status on the trees. They can tell you if you are too early or too late.

My Fall trip was during the drought, so not much color. Now, they have had much more rain. It should be a good show.

The falls have trees on each side that turn color. You just need to be there at the right time. I would post a bad timing (the wind just blew the leaves off!) photo with a little color but PS won't let me save it as a jpg!
