Extra clean CF cards

I accidently washed two cards this weekend. Should I consider them trash and not even try to plug them in a reader or is letting them sit around for a few days and then trying them a reasonable thing to do?

no harm in letting them sit out and dry for a few days. You might even be surprised at what you find.

They were empty, I stuck them in my pocket for a trip to the zoo but didnt need them. I completly forgot they were there when I tossed my shorts in the washer, they went through the dry cycle too.... They sure are clean and shiny....

Biggest concern with any electornic device is shorting them out when power is applied. Place it in ziplock bag with several silica dry bags for a week would be more than enough. Just make certain it's dry & you shouldn't have concerns.

i have washed cards a couple times over the years, I am still using one of the 2gig cards 3 years later. Its been photography retired now but still sits in a photo frame

Let it dry out for several days, and very likely they will function just as normal. I've dropped a CF card and several SD cards in puddles/water, wash em out again and let em dry out, worked like a charm every time.

Silica gel is the way to go, but you can also use a bowl of dry rice.

If they went through the drier like you said, don't worry about drying them out. They'll be fine.

An SD card would not have withstood this punishment.
