Who is Tom A? What is a CLA (Clean, Lub, and Adjust?)? They did get one thing right, the only film is Tri-X and D-76/Rodinal. What is so great about the 35mm summicron? Why the M-2? Why not the M-BR549?

It's all good fun.

I don't get the whole 35mm Summicron Religious Cult There is but one True Version thing either. Stovall was into that stuff. I tried to talk reason with him. It was no use.

Why I hate Leica and Leicaistas:

1) Snobs
2) Insanely overpriced gear
3) Cannot use the camera for: Sports, Macro, Landscape (not really), Long telephotos, camera is designed to shoot press work in close in areas, and street shoot.
4) Insanely overpriced used gear
5) Snobs
6) Claiming that it has a "look" that no other camera can have, sorry that argument is BS, put twenty people in a room and have them look at prints made from Canon, Leica, Nikon, or Pentax and I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that maybe 3-4 will be able to pick the Leica prints.
7) Old tech, insanely overpriced for what you get. Cameras are not ergonomic compared to Canon, Nikon or Pentax for example.
8) Extremely limited selection of lenses
9) Snobs.
10) Did I say snobbery?
11) David Douglas Duncan traded his Leica lenses for Nikkors in the Korean war.
12) Nikkor 50mm= $434.95 Leica 50mm f/1.4= $3,695.00
13) Not that much smaller than a DSLR.
14) Fashion Accessory for the Rich and dissolute. Who most likely never take a photograph with the camera.
15) See here: http//kenrockwell.com/leica/leica-man.htm
16 And here: The Cult of the Leica

From: THE ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHER:
All of Leica's Franklin Mint horsesh*t (endless special editions, collector come-ons, special materials and coverings, etc.) is, well, horsesh*t, and all the shrill, whiny "I'm better than other photographers because I have a Leica" snob appeal that's been getting worse as the years go by is more than counter-productive—it's obnoxious.

Leicatistas will howl, but the business about how special the lenses are is pretty much horsesh*t too. Most lenses today are plenty good enough and are not going to hold anybody back. If you're not getting enough quality out of a good Pentax or Nikon prime, the solution is not to spend the price of a used car on magical Deutsche-dust, the solution is to get a camera that shoots a bigger neg. Again, I'm still on film here. The digitals are another can o' worms.
