Yup, and before tonight, they were the ONLY MLB team to never have won a playoff series.

And they still have never won a post season game at home.

That's not exactly how we folk down here 'splain it!

I tried hard to root against them. I still haven't forgiven them for leaving DC. (No, I don't hold grudges!) Used to go see them when Teddy Ballgame was the manager. Those were the good old days. We'd show up at DC Stadium with our case of beer for a Sunday doubleheader. (Yes, it was completely legit, and yes, there was such a thing as a doubleheader.) I think a case cost around $5 or so, and the tickets might have been that much. Saw them take two from the Yankees one day, beating Whitey Ford in the first game.

Of course, I'll never forgive the other Washington Senators for leaving and becoming the Minnesota Twinkies!

That was yesteryear. Now, it's a whole new ball club. Today, it's "Go Rangers!"

You're right, John, but in so many ways it was a lot more fun back then. I remember when we could pay $2 each and walk into Hershey Stadium and watch the Redskins and Eagles in a practice scrimmage. The Eagles training camp was in Hershey, and the Redskins training camp was in Carlisle, about 35 miles away. Might have been a couple hundred other people there. Could get as close as the oval track around the field, and both teams wore their home jerseys. And they didn't much care for each other back then either! And they weren't playing the game for the money, and they didn't have a bunch of sissy rules!

Rant off. We now return you to the original thread.

You sound like my dad, who still just absolutely hates the entire game of baseball because the Browns left St. Louis to become the Baltimore Orioles.

For some fun baseball, try the minor leagues.. including the American Association where the Ft. Worth Cats and Grand Prairie Air Hogs play... its closer to baseball for love of the game than the majors.
