When you are shooting portrait style photos, do you rotate the camera counter clockwise and put the shutter release up top or rotate clockwise and have the shutter release on the bottom? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. I'm right handed so I'm inclined to tilt the camera left, so then the question is do I use the shutter release on camera (now top left) or the battery grip (now top right)

I use a battery grip so I don't think I have a sensible choice. However, without the grip, I still used to rotate cc for top-button positioning.

I use a battery grip on my main camera, so now any camera I pick up that I rotate to the portrait, ends up with the shutter button on top

Nevermind -- I'll take care of it myself!

Always on top, with or without grip! Don't know why.

1D and 1Ds series bodies don't need battery grips. I always use the shutter button on the top right corner, for whichever orientation I am shooting. :-)

It all depends on the situation. If my memory serves me correctly my olympus om 10 manual showed the "correct" way to hold for a verticle shot was with the shutter button down using the thumb to push it.
