I Passed Network+! - 11-05-2010, 04:02 PM

I passed my CompTIA Network+ exam! I came back from the testing center just a few minutes ago. I am now a certified CompTIA Network+ (2009) technician! This will make a great addition to my CompTIA A+ (2009) certification that I earned last month.

Congrats on passing, that says you know the basics of networking. Now the real game begins, turning that paper into a paycheck. Got a whole wall of certs... anybody want them?

The reason I got the certification is to make me more competitive in the marketplace. Although I often hear people say that certifications mean nothing to them, I also see job openings that either require or prefer one or more certifications. I would like to work as a computer tech, so having the certifications is a good idea; better to have them than not.

As a bonus, achieving the certification provides me with affirmation of my hard work and knowledge. I at least feel like I've achieved something.

Congrats, after being in the field some twentysomething years they tend to go in and out of favor with different companies. Always shows you stuck with something.

Thanks! I'm actually hoping for more hours of work (I'm working only part-time right now).

Thanks! I'm also hoping to wrap up an Associate of Science Degree in General Studies this semester. I hadn't planned to get another AS degree, but it appears that I've earned enough credit hours for one, it will be a while before I have enough credit hours for any other degree and I would like something else to put on my resume. As you say, it shows that I stuck with something.
