Studio Broken Into - 11-13-2010, 06:05 PM

Well, this morning I was awakened to a call from Plano PD letting me know that my studio had been broken into...

The damage was pretty bad, destroyed the front entry and tore up the ceiling when they ripped the projector down. Equipment wise... they cleaned me out pretty good including all of the office equipment, laptop, computers, monitors (including my 28") and some of my camera gear (lucky for me I had a camera with me for a shoot today) so they only got 2 bodies and 3 lenses.

So begins the insurance process... but in the meanwhile, I still have to get some work done to deliver commitments to my clients. Right now, I am struggling to try & cobble together a working system with my old laptop, and a crappy monitor

What a day...

Check Craigslist soon for lenses and bodies like the ones you're missing. :-/

Banks (or at least our credit union) are now aware of the value of camera lenses. Ours called us when we made purchases to confirm that we really ordered them and that's when we were told they're a relatively common purchase on stolen cards.

If you can provide any sort of serial numbers, do so. I'm sure Plano uses leadsonline, and outside of you personally calling as many local pawn shops as you can, that's the best way to find your stuff.

So sorry to hear about this Warren, that kind of stuff really pisses me off. Not sure if there is anything I have that would be of use for you to borrow but feel free to ask and I can send you a list of what I have that might help get you through it.

Warren,

I feel for you man. If I can help in any way just let me know. I am a Plano photographer and had a storefront studio at Parker and the Tollway for years. I thank God I was never hit by thieves. I had a 50 inch plasma TV in my lobby to show passerby my work. Sometimes I am amazed I wasn't hit.

I have never met you so I decided to see what your work was like. When I popped over to your blog I noticed where it states you will be out of town on certain dates. Was that when you were robbed? I hope they were not monitoring your blog to see exactly when to rob you. Could thieves really be that clever?

Do let us know what was taken so we can keep watch for you?
