I was prepared to hate it, it's a re-make.... been there, done that... how could it be better than the original Wayne & Darby??? But after seeing the trailer.... this is a MUST SEE....

Same here. Redux are not my cup of tea. Ordinarily. I will make an exception this time. Based on the folks who made it. Jeff Bridges. Some/all of it was shot in Texas.

You definitely need to see the original before going to watch the remake.

I've never seen the first one, but this new one looks awesome. I'll try to watch the original before seeing the remake.

I was the same way with 3:10 to Yuma. That was one I felt they shouldn't remake. And the remake was very good. I am skeptical about True Grit, it is like messing with a masterpiece....but we will see.

I saw both versions of 3:10 to Yuma, and I really liked both. Then I went back to watch the original after seeing the remake and decided that I liked the remake even better - - and I am one of those old farts who is disinclined to like remakes because they are remakes...

I am, therefore, looking forward to True Grit, based on that vast experience of 1... LOL!

My suggestion is to not compare the two films at all. Completely different director, actors, and look. Let each film stand on its own merits. IMHO!

It would be nice to see remakes of all those movies.

I'm pretty skeptical about remakes. Honestly, I haven't seen the trailer yet so I'm just spouting opinions here without having any facts to back them up. Having said that, a remake of True Grit to me has about as much appeal as a remake of the Mona Lisa or a remake of a Charley Russell painting. Looks very similar, but it just ain't the same.

I see they're also remaking Tron, another Jeff Bridges movie. Hmmm...do ya think Hollywood's getting the idea that the public likes the older movies better? I can't wait to see the remake of Top Gun--since the F-14's are all retired, do you suppose Maverick and Goose will be flying Predators from a top-secret corner of Nellis Air Force base?

One of the trailers is in my OP.

It's not a remake, it's a 20 years later sort of thing.... Get your facts right.

Add me as another skeptic. However, I have seen all the trailers and must say I can't wait to see this.
