not real impressed with tablet machines. got my wife an iPad for xmas. very cool device, but ... yea. very cool.
I couldn't tell you what it's useful for, other than the farmville app, and a few things it COULD do, if my laptop didn't already do it faster and cheaper.

Went by my local Office Depot last night and they had one on display. It's actually a pretty sweet little Pad. For what I do on a computer, I just might have to get me one.
BTW the reviews on sears that are bad, were mostly before the new firmware updates.

I was thinking that something like that would be a good idea to take for proofing with clients (for those that do face to face proofing vs online galleries).

10 inches of multi-touch screen
1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor, Dual-Core ARM 9
1024 x 600 pixels of resolution

Bluetooth 2.1
Wi-Fi
Accelerometer
16 GB flash memory (expandable with SD card slot)
1080p video playback
Mini HDMI
Mini USB
Micro SD card

out of the box the UI is crap, I bought it knowing I was going to root it within seconds of opening the box. Most reviews on the web talk about the hardware being stellar, but with a crappy UI it's not worth the buy.... easy fix if you like to tinker :-)

I picked up one of those and found it to be less than ideal. I returned it and got a Nook Color and rooted it. Smaller size, but a lot better screen. No camera anywhere, but I don't need one for what I do with it.

Rob, for us semi tech guys, would you mind doing a brief overview, short version, on what is involved to do what you did? And about how long did it take?

I can't explain it better then the link below, basically, you are updating the ROM, or OS that the device runs on, it has a better UI and full access to the market... it is a risky move, you could end up with a $350.00 brick, you should not attempt to do it unless you are willing to take that risk
Here is a great link w/ info [UPDATED GUIDE] Install ClockworkMod, a ROM, Flash Player, and the Market Fix - xda-developers
I used this ROM VEGAn-Tab Build, BETA 5.1.1 w/supplement (updated 02/12/11) Froyo - xda-developers
