My Grandfather on my mothers side would always take me and my sister to the Sears Catalog store when the wish book came out so that we could pick out our Christmas present. They lived in a small town in Kentucky and that was really the only way to shop. For me it was usually some race car set, or train set.

As a kid in Japan (military dependent) Christmas came from Sears almost exclusively for several years.
