Hello All:

I want to do a series based on old barns, country stores, signage, etc. I know East Texas (along the 20 corridor) pretty well, though some of the 'real' country through there is still a mystery...

Anyway, I'm looking for places to shoot these relics of yesteryear and any help would be appreciated.

My preference is locations between Dallas and Louisiana. These stores, barns, etc. do not need to be in operation- overgrown, broken windows, etc. adds character as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks in advance-

If you will travel Hwy 21 between Crockett and Nacogdoches there are many old barns on that road.

Lots of good stuff. Get off of the interstate system. Heck, old US-80 between Dallas and Shreveport has several towns with the original town center either on Hwy 80 or a block or two either side of 80. By that I mean that the twon grew up on/because og Hwy 80 but the highway was relocated for traffic/safety reasons. You just have to look. East from Plano past Lake Fork to Jefferson, TX is chock full of old stuff. Like me. Grinning. Get out there. Stay on the Farm to Market roads and keep your eyes open.

Thanks guys- planning on taking a extra few hours heading out to my folks in Jefferson and a few extra hours heading home (a few times) to see if I can uncover some of the sites you mentioned.

Just west of Paris on 82 is a place with a field full of antique tractors as well as an airplane fuselage.
