I wish I was the Supreme Overlord of Texas. I would order all the f**king mountain cedar trees removed from this Grate State. Already my eyes are burning, nose stuffy, head feeling miserable, and they are predicting ANOTHER record year of Mountain Cedar pollen. Oh joy, the sinus migraines ahead. The sinus infections. The agony. Even allergy shots help only a little.

Hey Murph!
Your curse worked but please be more specific when you put a curse on Mother Nature.
I lost 5 very large pecan trees and 9 cedars. I had to hire a crew to come in and cut them down.

Makes my wife deathly ill, but doesn't bother me. That's why she isn't attending IUSA with me.

Unless you plan to reduce the entire state to "small particles by rubbing it on something rough", I will assume you meant to type Great.

Sorry, an in joke from another site on the net where a spelling challenged troll kept calling it a grate site rather than a Great site. Quote:

I just wish you, as the Supreme Overlord, could get people to stop calling them cedars.....
I like cedars -- but these *&%)^& junipers have got to go!
water-sucking, good-for-nothing, ugly, stinky, allergy-causing, demon-spawn is what they are.....

eh.... I like em. But then again, I'm the one with 'blue spruce' scented sticks on my very real, and very smelly frasier fir Christmas tree. I think I got high on the pine scent the first few nights. LOVE IT!

FWIW, the State of Texas recommends clear cutting them. The TPWD and A&M did a study which showed that an acre of land with cedars on would suck up as much as 100,000 of water/year. Get rid of the cedars and the grasses return. Black Gap Ranch near Johnson City is an example of what getting rid of cedars will do to 'green up' the land.
The State also recommends burning pastures every 2-3 years to keep the land covered in grass and not let trees come back. I see lots of ranches where this is being practiced.

At the Johnson Ranch park there is a story about how bringing in the plants destroyed the land. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
