Before... and After 37 years - 12-26-2010, 10:51 AM

I have been scanning old, 1970s, black and white negatives over the past 2-3 days. These are from my time in the Army when I (a very very young I) was stationed in West Germany.

On a lark I dipstyched (is that a word?) two images:

Name: 1973-2010 small.jpg
Views: 175
Size: 74.7 KB

My wife saw the image and her only comment was "wow" and walked away. Still trying to figure that out<g>.

Anyway, at dinner I commented it would be interesting if I could speak to the then me from the me today. Maria's reply was "Would you have listened?" Now, I'm not so sure.

So, would YOUR younger you have listened to the you today?

When I was younger I didn't need to ask, I knew it all. And as the saying goes, the more I learn the more I know how little I knew.

I didn't listen to anyone else so why would I listen to me?

I have also been scanning old slides from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. As for the issue of my listening to myself (or anyone else), I think this one of the cake my family made me for my 21st birthday (1972) says it all.

lol....well... I was born in 73...so I'm guessing probably not.

That's really cool to see though...

Let's see... 37 years ago would have been 1973... That's pretty close to when I shot this self-portrait:

This is from my military ID, about 23 years ago:

Of course, this is what I look like, now:

If I were to go back in time and talk to my younger self, assuming that I knew it was older me, I probably would have listen carefully. Then, I would have formed an alliance and plotted how to take over the world.

Hellllllllllllll no!

Then again, I never realized how stupid I was or how I had ever made it through life without my kids knowledge to lead me through.
