Dang, that makes owning an iPad sound hard.

That's kind of what I like doing with the iPad because I don't have the 3G to stream when out and about.....

I guess that means I need to take it off the cool alarm clock dock I have, that's lame.

Me too but I think he means the videos need to be converted to the proper size and resolution for the iPad

Sorry Jake, but I'm pretty sure these aren't absolutely necessary...just precautions.

I believe that he is wrong about the need to discharge the iPad battery all the way. The iPad uses a lithium-polymer battery. This type of battery should never be discharged 100%, as that will shorten its life and capacity. That's why lithium batteries ship with a small charge already on them. Furthermore, lithium batteries contain a microchip that limits their charging and discharging. They don't overcharge when left in a charger, because the microchip shuts off the charging circuit when it calculates that the battery is charged. They also don't completely discharge, because the circuit cuts off the battery before that happens. His information is the same battery advice that was common 30 years ago, when the world used nickel-cadmium (which need to be discharged 100%, then fully recharged).

When Apple talks of a charge cycle, it refers to using a series of percentages that add up to 100%.

I thought the thing about the battery sounded like technology from the Ni-Cad days and was pretty sure the Ipad was on Lithium-Ion battery or some lithium based.

Jailbreaking is not for the faint of heart and I don't recommend it unless you are 100% aware that there is the possibility of turning your iPad into a brick. That being said, if successfully done, jailbreaking can open a world of goodies that Apple does not want you to have because they cannot control them.

Also, he writes to not "Forget to activate the Find My iPad option on MobileMe." He fails to mention that MobileMe costs money too. It is yet another fee that some (including me) pass on simply because they get tired of being nickle and dimed to death by Apple. For the kind of money we spend on iMacs, iPods, iPhones, iPads and MacBook's, MobilMe should be free.

This is not entirely true. You can get a free MobileMe account to enable the 'Find My iPad' feature.
