Looking for a donation - 01-15-2011, 10:29 AM

This might not be the right forum, and i hope it is not against the rules.

My wife works for a non-profit org. They run the only homeless shelter in our county. Several of their computers were very old and should not have been upgraded to Windows XP, but they were. The machines are so old, i can not add RAM to them, so I got my company to donate 3 used desktops, that are much newer than what they have and can run XP with no issues.

My problem, since LCD moniters out live a desktop, they dont donate LCD monitors (or any monitors). So I am looking for donations for a few monitors. based on need, i really need 17 inch monitors.

If you have a spare monitor, want to help the homeless and get a tax write off, PM me and we can work out the details.

Thanks
Steve

I haven't combed over the rules recently, but I'm guessing this does not break forum rules. This same section of the forum has seen requests for donations to sick or deceased forum members' families, one of Abel's friends who needed help and other legitimate charities. This sounds like it would fit under the same category as the others. It's not like you are asking for the forum to fund your jet ski purchase.

Hopefully, someone will have the items you are looking for.

Wait a second, you mean the forum would fund my jet ski purchase?!?!?!?

Back to reality, let me look around, I may be able to provide some monitors, computers and maybe even a printer. Give me a little time to see what all my office has laying around.

Allan

I would hope they'd fund my 11x14" ULF camera project first. Then, I could take photos of you on your jet ski with it!

I would like to actually work and earn a pittance to pay my meager bills. Any one know of some odd jobs I could do?

Some versions of Linux can run very nicely on older computers. This might be an additional option to explore. Good luck.
