Black Swan....A Guy's Movie???? - 01-17-2011, 05:43 PM

A friend stated on Facebook he was pleasantly surprised after seeing the movie, that in his opinion, the film would appeal to men as well as women. After reading his post, my wife thought I should go. So I went. I'm still trying to digest it.

Pretty sure any movie with Natalie Portman will appeal to men.

A direct quote from my husband (who I dragged to the movie) "it was better than I thought it was going to be, but I am indifferent."

But I LOVED it :-)

It was a crazy movie, I'm sure the only appeal to men are the explicit sexual moments..rather than the actual ballet..
Not sure exactly my thoughts on this movie, I liked yet thought it was so strange as well.
Still wondering if I'll buy it when it comes out...hmmmm.?

I am still on the fence about seeing it.... can't decide if it sounds good or just weird...

I enjoyed it. Very postmodern, not so much a traditional plot/storyline as it is a dropping of the audience into several weeks of the characters life. very trippy at points. Felt like half the movie was focused on the sexual awakening of Portman (which makes sense because she's supposed to be discovering the "Black Swan" within herself). Yeah there's a lot of overt sexuality but it's got this unsettling undercurrent the whole time that keeps it from being your stereotypical "we put sex in here so guys would come see it with their wives". Overall I enjoyed it but I probably won't watch it again.
