Really to me this is plain stupid, why not send it back to Canon and have it go through inspection and then sold on the used market? I guess the loss of a half mill is less paperwork than fixing it.

Not camera related, but just boggles the mind - 4,703 new cars destroyed a few years ago.

Yeah this all is INSURANCE COMPANY LOGIC which may or may not be real logic to the rest of the world.

Regularly trains derail with new cars on them and they crush the new cars since they may have little scratches on them and the insurance companies pay off instead of just taking the assets for their corporate fleats.
