I need some T-Mobile phone recommendations - 01-20-2011, 07:51 PM

Believe it or not my wife is still using this thing

I'd like to upgrade her to a decent and reliable smartphone. It does not have to be the biggest, baddest or most current. My wife will mainly use the phone to handling 3 email accounts, text messages, portable portfolio, and other apps like Facebook, etc. Here are a few requirements:
  • sync with Microsoft Outlook
  • A good calendar app that syncs with Microsoft Outlook
  • have a great battery life
  • does not have to be 4G
  • a good screen for displaying a photo portfolio
  • good camera phone

Thank you in advance for the help.
-Sonny

Sonny,

My wife just made me purchase this exact phone for her, she wanted no bells or wistles.

If she wants a BB, the new 9780 is a great phone. I have the 9700 and was thinking about the upgrade (i am running a leaked copy of BB 6 on the 9700 and the extra RAM in the 9780 would make a big difference).

If you want we have a slightly used LG Sentio you can have (she did not like it, and it's collecting dust here).

I am looking at the My Touch 4G, i might purchase it in about 2 weeks. I can give you details on it then, or i could give you my 9700 (it's in perfect condition, always in a case and a invisishield from day one).

Good luck
Steve

Reviews say the battery life is just so-so and runs terribly slow.

See very little difference in the Droid X she has now. Battery still needs to be charged daily if used alot (mainly the screen that takes all the power) Apps that she uses work fine for her. But too each his own..........

I like the G2 myself. Looks better then the mytouch 4G. But both are good phones.

HD2 is a great phone. Buy a Seido 3500 battery for 60 bucks and it will last all day with no problems. Can get 1.5-2days with that battery really. Plus it's been hacked to run android or win 7 on it.

Yeah, my wife is the same way. She doesn't even text.

Now that our businesses are growing the demand for to check emails on the go and other aspects are growing as well. So it's time to FORCE her to upgrade phones. We'll see how it goes.

It would have to be one heck of a deal for me to consider it. Read the next reply ˅˅˅˅˅˅

I totally understand what you're saying. I am trying to take into consideration the growth of her usage over time and I see the poor battery life being a huge turn off for her. I'm trying to avoid having to buy a charger for the house, the car, and office just to stay powered up so she can use the phone.

Last night I was reading reviews about the MyTouch 4G. The majority of users seems to be pleased with the overall performance but the battery is still an issue. The battery life is on par with the HTC HD2.

I really appreciate all the suggestions and feedback. Please keep them coming.
