What did you do for your 20 year reunion? - 01-20-2011, 11:28 PM

I am helping the president of my high school class plan our reunion. We lived in a small town of about 2000 people, and very few of us actually live there.

What have some of you done for reunions that were fun? Besides getting plastered

I showed up.
Don't really recall too much going on other than catching up on twenty years gone by and trying to refrian from mentioning how much older (almost) everybody looked.

Don't forget the name tags!

Stayed home on the 10th, 20th, 30th, and 40th. Probably won' t go the future ones, either.

Our school was a very old school. Several years after our class of 1976 left, there was a remodeling and the system spent the extra bucks to keep the same style. We were given a tour of the building as one of our events

We had an entire weekend of events. There was a casual "cocktail" party on Friday night, a family picnic on Saturday with a more formal dinner/dance on Saturday night. BTW, my graduating class was +1200.

My husband's class of roughly 60 graduates is planning a family bar-b-que and someone's house (with land) then going out to a bar that evening for just the adults.

Was too busy working to go to the 20th. It was 1000+ miles away.
Made my 55th 1n 2008. It was at the Barboursville WV Senior Citizens Center!

We had a Friday Evening GTG with snacks at the Senior Center. Just a get reacquainted chat session.(The Senior Center was about the only public facility with a decent sized room in the Small Village of Barboursville)
Saturday we had a semi formal dance/dinner at a local country club. Remembrances of our departed classmates, a DJ playing music from our HS days on the PA system to dance to. A local photog to take a Class Group Picture. (This guy's work was awful!!! I should have put my camera on a tripod with a wireless release!!! Mine would have been seriously better...Even remotely!!!)
Sunday afternoon, a outdoor picnic GTG at a local city park. Nothing fancy at either event. Just fun meeting again, and reminiscing about old times.

Cheers to you Heather for doing this!!! These things mean so much, and they don't just happen! Someone has to take the initiative to take on the task, and I heartily commend those that take the time, and go to the trouble to do it.

My wife and I just attended her AHHS 50th a few months back. The Friday event was at Kincaids on Camp Bowie. Very informal. They did one neat thing at hers. Someone had cheap paper hand fans made up with blown up face shots of the class members taken from the Class Annual pictures. That was cool! They also hired a photog to go around the room grabbing pictures of all there....I asked one of them if this was what was called...Taking "Senior Pictures"

Friday night cocktails party, Saturday night more formal dinner and more drinking, a gift drawing, we got tickets when we signed into for prizes. Also a little rememberance ceremony for the ones that were no longer with us! So that everyone knew how they passed. There was a little pedestal with their photos and names.

as the reunions become larger in number fewer show up, We just had our 35th at the Knights of Columbus Hall. That's downsizing from the big ballrooms of the Fairmount for the 5 year reunion.

Whew...thank you for the reminder~~~ I was like dang...I don't even remember...that's not good!!!!!!!! But that's what we did..( I think!!!) Everyone still at kids at home, so it was nice to see everyone's kids. But Friday night and Sat night were for the graduate and the spouse...

BTW..I didn't get plastered!!! : ) although there were def. some there that took advantage of the liquor!! You would have thought at my 30th they would have been old enough to know better, but sure enough, some still haven't learned!!)
