What is with Nikon and their marketing, and user support issues?

Canon is offering the following to the attendees at After Dark Vegas:

-Free equipment clean and checks (Canon only)
-Anyone can loan Canon bodies and lenses to shoot with for the week FOR FREE (Nikon users included)
-Canon is providing 30 flashes complete with Radio Poppers attached.
-Teaching a video capturing class
-And providing a 24 inch Canon printer for attendees to print their work on.

Whats Nikon doing?

Nikon has a great product, but Canon seems to care about their users a lot more.

im glad to see canon do this!

in the past its predominantly been nikon being the one to step up and offer this kind of support at an event.

I was on a photo cruise a few years back and nikon had a rep on board with a cabin room stock piled with nikon equipment for all our photo tour participants to borrow for free. I was very impressed.

Thats the first time I've ever heard of Nikon doing anything like that. I do know that they sponsor the Mentor Series, and see their advertisements for all the trips they take. But other than that, I've only ever seen them at Imaging USA.

All Canon is offering is to manipulate people into buying an experience. That is all these offers of service are. Every company does it -- yes, even Nikon. Once one understands difference between core values and manipulative actions, then they become less persuaded by marketing. In the end, it helps the individual to reasoned decisions.

I recall Cannon giving away those coffee mugs up in Canada at the olympics a while back also.
My wish for Nikon is to build a second lens factory.
