Found Wrecked Car Saturday Morning - 01-30-2011, 03:04 PM

As I was driving home in the early Saturday morning hours following my long day at work in Fort Worth, I encountered a wrecked car on the side of the road. I was slightly North of the Loop 12 entrance from I-30; the time was about 4 a.m.

I needed a few seconds to realize this wasn't just an abandoned car, as a vehicle in that condition would have been cleared away by the highway department soon after its discovery. As I pulled over to the side of the road, I noticed in my rear view mirror that the headlights on the other vehicle were now lit. I quickly walked back to it, where I found the driver slumped over sideways in his seat. He regained consciousness and sat upright as I approached.

At the start of this video, I'm trying to understand why my video camera had stopped recording soon after I had started it for an earlier segment. I can record in 32 minute segments, but my camera had stopped in what seemed a short time. I reasoned that my memory card must be almost full, cutting the time available for recording. I restarted the video recording to capture this 44-second clip.

a. who were you talking to? There's medication for that.
b. WTF are you doing using a video camera and driving at the same time? isn't that in the same boat with texting while driving?
c. contrary to your belief, the vehicle can stay there for 48 hours after its discovery if I'm not mistaken.

I was on medication when I started talking to imaginary people.

In what way could they possibly be the same thing? I can completely ignore my video camera for a half-hour at a time and still get the whole thing on video. Texting requires you to keep pushing specific buttons and watching a little screen while composing communication. My video camera is hands-free. Texting requires hands-on. Really, how could these be the same thing?

I don't think that applies to vehicle accidents, only vehicles that are broken down or abandoned. Vehicle accidents must be removed immediately.

Try 13 hours. That's what my co-workers did on Friday. Then, we had to put in a full shift at another location less than 5 hours later. It was between those two shifts that I shot the video in the OP.

There have been other threads in the last couple months covering why he videotapes everything. He has it mounted in the car, not hand-holding it.

Lord, if I'm ever in a wreck and I'm slumped over the wheel in possible need of medical attention, please don't have somebody find me that is more concerned with whether his freakin' camera is running than he is with my personal welfare. Amen.

Maybe you should be glad if you were found at all? At least I called 9-1-1. The only reason that anybody stopped is that I was there with my hazard lights blinking. Everyone else who showed up stopped by my car, not his, until the police showed up.

All I see is the car pull over and the video ends?

Watch the right side of the road at 22 seconds into the video.
