As Spock would say: "Fascinating!" I would imagine the same sort of confusion was had when the cellphone and automobile were introduced. What's that? We don't need that! We've done just fine without it all these years. Why do we need that? All you youngsters and your new fangled contraptions...what next? Hot and cold running water? That'll be the day...

It begs the question - are any of the Today show hosts in the video any less clueless nowadays?

I have a video of me being interviewed for a cable show in 1994 talking about 'what is the Internet and how do you use it' ....

brings me back. <tear> seeing your 24 year old self on video explaining how to get windows 3.11 to speak IP and talking about something called 'the web' is pretty damn cool.

My Dad was "e-mailing" the troops during the First Gulf War.

Makes me think - I was beta testing Win95 and the original Microsoft Network then. If they only knew what us beta testers knew at the time....

I was supporting new computer users back in 95 and getting them on the internet with their newly acquired computer. One call I had at the ISP entailed a user not knowing what a mouse was that lasted 30 minutes at which pointed she was getting a dial tone to our service.

I was working out of the Aramco building for Bell Atlantic, they had outsourced their support for us cheaper southerners.

And in 1994, I was working for a company that did Warehouse management software using portable wireless terminals... we started working with Symbol Technologies and a beta version of a wireless transmission protocol that had just been assigned its IEEE designation: 802.11 (no stinkin a, b, g, or n after it, neither)....

I remember hitting a gopher site in italy that was nothing but hot bikini models :)

I also remember doing cu-see me with a lady in New York, and cranking the speed all the way up to 1.5Mb to see what would happen (30fps video for about 10 seconds, then the software crashed from buffer overflow)...

I'm also particularly proud that we managed to get sprint to ask us to back off our use-net feed back to them, as it was bogging their system down... Muhahahaha.
