Unhappy Lesson learned - 02-06-2011, 09:25 AM

I was waiting for my check to hit the account friday for the past 2 weeks. I had decided i was going to buy the Canon 50mm 1.4. Been looking forward to it the entire time I was out of town for work. I land Saturday morning and drive straight to Arlington Camera to buy it. Traffic sucked in the area thanks to the Jerry World Bowl.

I get there, walk straight to the counter, and proudly say "I would like a Canon 50mm..." person behind the counter says "1.8, sorry we are out of stock". I correct him and say "no I wanted the 1.4". He goes and looks.......

Sold out

I have been waiting for 2 weeks and I never thought to call and see if it was in stock. I left without ordering it or anything I was so bummed. IDIOT.

What what?

Man! I ordered from BHPV days before I came home from work and had if UPS hadn't been farked by the weather, I'd have my Kneecon 50mm 1.4G in my hands right now! So, in short, I understand your frustration.

I didn't want to order online since I'm always out of town during the week. No one to sign for the package. Guess I will try to call Arlington Camera Monday. If they can get one in I will still use them. Should have asked Saturday, but I was sulking lol

Well, they had the Sigma 50mm 1.4, so the wife picked that up for me. She is great. Can't wait to get home this weekend to try it out

If Arlington is out of stock, what about Competitive Camera in Dallas?

Someone at Arlington messed up if they didn't offer to order it for you! They always offer if they are out.

Waited 2 WHOLE weeks? Blink of an eye. Wait 3 1/2 decades for something sometime.

Ron knows. You will like the Sigma.

Wanted to buy it local. Never been to competitive camera of Dallas. They already had orders in, but the weather had made shipment unknown of their stock. Not ours, but from canon. Decided on the Sigma after looking into it a bit further. I have heard good things.

About the "two whole weeks" comment. It was more the fact that not once did I think during those two weeks to call and see if it was in stock. It was on my mind, should have done that. Oh well.
