Nokia never seemed to get real big here in the US, and I think that helped Android get market share faster. I guess they decided Symbian had cost them enough business.

Yeah I read the day that symbian was still the most widely used phone OS, which took me by surprise. I would have sworn it was iOS.

Just about everyone in China had a Nokia phone. Most of them being a 'simple' phone, and very reliable with excellent battery life and well built like a tank. It also helps that they had the necessary GSM frequencies across the world.

It's just funny to me. So many people think the same way, but it's not fact based, its Apples "creative advertising" that makes people think and do silly things. (like buy a new device over and over)

That and where is "everywhere"? The chart is more accurate from a global perspective. Most of the places I've been are Symbian and RIM (more corporate). Symbian is big in Asia and esp the Middle East and Africa but those phones are mostly second hand and, of course, its undoubtedly on the decline as iOS and Android proliferate down.

The US market is more neck and neck when comparing Android and Apple. On another side note, I just read that apple is going to make a smaller iPhone that will sell for $200.00 with no contract

On topic of this thread, I think Nokia's choice to switch to Windows phone 7 was a good idea, I think them switching to Android would have been even better....
