South Central Texas Antique Run? (Starting in Houston) - 02-16-2011, 12:22 PM

The wife feels like going on a day trip, probably Saturday, which is fine by me because I always do. She wants to visit some roadside antique/junk shops not too far away from Houston. I don't know of any good routes, so I'm kinda guessing here. I'm looking forward to it cuz it'll be a good chance for some decent photo opportunities, weather permitting.

I'm thinking we could take 529 out to Bellville, then 159 over to La Grange, and use La Grange as the turn-around point. Maybe come back a different way, like take 159 back to Fayetteville, then take 1291 to 1094 into Sealy. Hit the SuperSlab (I-10) at Sealy then back off at 1458 to 359 into Brookshire, then US 90 to Katy, then give it up and take the SuperSlab back home.

I'm just taking this route off a map. The only part of it I'm somewhat familiar with is 159 from Bellville to La Grange. But when I took it I was on my motorcycle and not paying any attention to antique/junk shops along the way. So if any of y'all have done some antiquing/scavenging out that way, any recommendations?
