What is better is the people replying to the post...

I really don't think this will pass. In the event that it did, I would be scared.

WTF?!

All because they claim they're a little worried about films/photos that the animal rights extremist might put up?

Why should they even care?

I'll always eat steak, I don't care how cute the baby cafe looked at me with those brown eyes.

I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain just to eat salad.

Man, you gotta love the ways they come up with to waste the tax payers dollars.

The real insanity isn't the bill, but the idea of trying to make this or similar totally unconstitutional bills part of law. Lets say this bill makes it out of committee then winds up as and amendment such as pay raises for our military men. You vote for the pay raise and photographing cows becomes illegal. Next election nothing gets mentioned by your opponent for the pay raise, but all hell breaks loose because of your cow vote!!

I'm pretty sure the Senate has better things to do than to make up bills for PARANOID farmers. He even said he couldn't think of a time it's been done, he's just "seen" undercover videos and is obviously paranoid. If he's doing something wrong he should be paranoid. But making it illegal to photograph farm scenery not for cruelty purposes, that's a all far-stretched.

Farmers that don't want photographers taking photos should build a wall around their property to put them in that " reasonably expectation of privacy".

This is a prime example of lawyers not understanding the specific problem and creating something too broad. Happens all the time.

Problem: Farmers want to protect their intellectual property - i.e. they want to keep the system/process they use for milking the cows confidential in the same way that other businesses want to keep their practices confidential. They want something that will make it illegal to either overtly or covertly photograph their property that might reveal this confidential information. All of this is valid and understandable (and has nothing to do with someone coming in to covertly video illegal activity). Oh, and there are already laws in place that do this quite well.

Lawyer solution: Ban it all. Let the courts figure out what can be upheld and what can't.

Result: Confused police, upset photographers, and lots of taxpayer dollars trying to figure out if the law is constitutional.
