Ipad 1 vs Ipad 2 - 03-02-2011, 02:57 PM

I want to buy an Ipad just to show clients pictures and nothing else. Would you buy an Ipad 2 for $500 16GB wifi or an original Ipad 1 refurbished from apple for $350 plus tax...around $377 one year warranty..blah..blah..blah..

Interested in feedback

Why would you use it "just to show clients pictures"? But I guess if that were the only thing you were doing (glorified digital image frame) then I would go with the refurbished one of course.

I keep my portfolio on mine. I use this app Portfolio for iPad - An app for photographers, designers, florists and others to present a branded portfolio

I would buy the refurb. and wait for the next version with the high resolution display.

My 2 cents.

Yes it would be more for to carry my portfolio. I was thinking Ipad 1 for now since I don't own one, and wait for the Ipad 3 when it comes out.

Ipad 1 for $350 is not a bad deal I think..

I went ahead and bought one of the refurbs. We needed to replace a stolen netbook so the $350 price was right.

But we are also going to the the iPad 2 on the 11th.

Nice...I might buy the Ipad 1 and wait till the Ipad 3 comes out if the upgrades are better...

I am just curious at this point, what do you not like about the iPad 2? Is there something specific you are waiting for on the iPad 3? I can certainly understand hesitation at buying a 2 if you already had a 1, although I may be doing just that (will have to see since I just spent a wad on lenses).

I've got a couple of questions; does the Apple store at Willowbrook sell referb and how much are the 64gb? Anybody know? I would have bought a IPAD2 if it had a USB port.

Just saw the iPad Ones are discounted to $399.

>>>iPad 1: Available at $399, For Now
Mar 2, 2011 ... Other models come with a similar discount. Again, this seems to be a temporary offer until iPad 1 stock runs out. So if you really want one, ...

Having the iPad v1 and a photographer, I'd say go for the refurb and wait to see if they upgrade the screen in v3. There's nothing on the v2 except increased processor speed that would create an advantage (from the OP needs). Had they upgraded the screen I'd be in line waiting like I will be for the HDMI cable.

The battery life and speed of v1 is plenty good and has never been a complaint for me. I've never desired a camera on the iPad let alone 2 of them so that's not a big deal. Sure would be nice if they incorporated an SD slot...

I love my iPad, it's a great tool for showing off your port and with the HDMI cable, it'll be even better when you can show it off on a 60" DLP...

BTW, the HDMI cable works with iPad v1 & v2.
