I have a dear friend whose parents are survivors of one of the Polish camps. Mania Wozobski was in charge of making coffee for the SS as a teenager. If the coffee wasn’t made correctly she was beaten. She would not drink coffee until the day she died. She spent many years as a speaker for the Dallas Holocaust Museum. Mania wore her number tattoo as a badge of courage and rarely covered it up; she was a phenomenal woman.

I absolutely love reading about the Holocaust.

If anyone else is a "fan" several good books are "Hanged at Auschwitz" and "Commandant at Auschwitz". The commandant is about the guy who ran Auschwitz at it's peak, he wrote it while in prison on trial for what he did during the holocaust, it's insane, and sometimes intense to read him retell things that you know he has no emotion about. I have Mein Kampf that I want to read eventually, but I have so many books that need to come first. I just find it incredible to read about survivors and the men who did the terrible things to the prisoners. Even after reading several holocaust books, I just still can't possibly understand why like the commander had no second thoughts to shooting someone in the head for no good reason. I don't think there is a way to understand why all those men (and some women) did those things to those innocent people.
