A note about a very unsung person - 03-10-2011, 04:48 PM

Not photography related at all, but I just felt like sharing this....I learned that the very sweet lady who ran the deli in the lobby at my office passed away early this morning, around 1:30 a.m. She was young - only 54 - but she'd been ill for some time. Her family were here today and the deli was open because she wanted it that way - she said that her customers were hungry and thirsty and needed to be taken care of. How do you order lunch with tears in your eyes and a heavy heart?

In an age of "me, me, me," how absolutely astonishing to know how she felt about taking care of her customers -- people who zipped in and out for small things -- grabbing a Coke or a bag of chips or a banana. Even though she battled illness for a long time, she never complained and she always had a smile on her face, a quick laugh and always asked about my family, especially my "beautiful granddaughter."

Nina, you will be missed more than you ever realized. Maybe the rest of us can learn a lesson from your graciousness. God Speed.

It's the small things in life that make it worth while......

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on.
I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.

That's sad, yet makes me feel good.

A friend who is older...60 something was talking one day..he is about 1/2 generation older than I...he was saying how sad he was knowing that one day he was going to die...and life would literally gone on..... some people would be sad for a while, but literally, alot of people would go on like nothing ever happened. WOW....
