saltwater pool anyone?? - 03-11-2011, 11:42 PM

Do you have a saltwater pool? Ever had anyone steal you cell? we did a couple years ago...the piece that is BOLTED on the house, plus the long round cylindar piece. We put up a fence with little points at the top to help deter and with a lock on the gate. Not fool proof by any means...just a way to help tell them it is easier somewhere else.

Apparently times are hard again. While we were in the kitchen tonight, they tried to steal it again. At Christmas time things looked a little funny, so my husband put a lock on the equipment too. Tonight after the dog went crazy we went out there...the box was pried open, the lock was still locked. When we went looking around the house, we heard someone run from the huge bunch of trees, jump the fence and they were gone.

Varmits...now we must figure out what else to do. Anyone else have an issue? We are thinking of totally enclosing the equipment aka putting a "top" on the fence. Suggestions from anyone with similar issues??

Put a top on it, put up a motion activated security light, and a game camera to see if they come back and your not at home to hear them. This is happening all over the place and to everyone. This type of crime will not go away.

Good luck.

Move the unit and in its place put in a moderately secured empty box - let them come and pound on that and find it empty.

I say take the fence down, then put up a electric fence and use enough voltage so when they touch it, they cry all the way home...

Im not sure the size of the cell youre talking about as i have never seen one but I know with my home alarm system they have a loop wire attached to my outside AC unit... so if the unit is removed which means that wire aka loop has to be severed then the house alarm goes off and all hell breaks loose.

I like the idea of the top and security motion sensor lights... i bet that might help deter them

We have the power...who wants to sit out there 24/7/365 and watch it?? That's not really reasonable. We looked at motion detectors but will be putting a welded top on the fence and possibly an electric fence. We have one around the perimeter for the dog...but have it off since he has learned to stay away...may need to hook it back up for other reasons!!

My neighbor had his a/c compressor stolen. When he replaced it, he had a full cage enclosure put over it.

Kel-Tec 12-Gua. 14+1 round tubes.
Not that I endorse that sort of thing.
