Honeymoon suggestions - 03-21-2011, 01:59 AM

Good suggestions on where to go? Getting married in July and would like to go somewhere in the Carribean. Mexico is out. We would like an all inclusive. She wants a nice beach. Id like somewhere with maybe some diving or local golf or things to see. She doesnt dive now, so thats not a requirement. Trying to keep under $4000 for the trip.

My son is headed to Aruba next month for his honeymoon. He wants to surprise his bride with the destination so he and I looked all over trying to find the right place at a reasonable price. He ended up choosing Aruba at a B&B. He originally wanted an AI also but he found this place and talked to the owner and booked it. Airfare and the room for 5 or 6 nights is $2400. Many of the AI's were almost that much for 1 person, not including airfare. We also looked at VRBO to rent a condo on a beach somewhere but he chose the quaint little B&B.

Quite a few people recommended Belize. He decided to go there when they have a little more time to be able to do both the rain forest and beach.

Good luck!

ps: You have the rest of your life to go to the beach. Go somewhere you never ever thought of going. Totally different. Go west. Canadian Rockies. Take a camera.

I sure tried to get my son to be adventurous and go anywhere other than the beach but he was adamant that they only want to sit on the beach and sip cocktails.

darktiger, Greece was definitely one of my suggestions. And Italy. And Alaska. And British Columbia on the Ocean Light II, Ocean Light II Adventures: Unforgettable Eco-adventures on the Beautiful BC Coast But, they are beach bound. :)

We got married at an all-inclusive in Jamaica and it was beautiful. We picked a resort that wouldn't allow kids any younger than 14 because of nieces of nephews but there are several that are adults only. The Jamaican people are wonderful too - just stay away from the Kingston side of the island.

I agree with Jamaica. I went by this place the other day. It was extremely nice. The people in that area aren't bad, and you can find a lot of handmade things to buy.

+1 we loved Aruba.. food is great, people are great... remains on of my favorite islands.

A diving areas, lots of snorkel, all are easy to get to.

You can travel the whole island or get tours and what not. Great little place. Fishing is good.. if you have the right guy. He leaves REALLY early but you will catch a ton of fish.

We loved it... wanted to go back this year but kiddo got in the way.
